# Cake Day: AI birthday & anniversary shoutouts

> Cake Day posts AI-generated birthday and work-anniversary shoutouts in Slack.

Cake Day automatically celebrates your teammates' birthdays and work anniversaries in Slack. Each day at the time you choose, it generates a personalized message via Google Gemini, pairs it with a curated GIF, and posts it in your celebration channel — tagging the person so the whole team can chime in.

## How it works

When you install Cake Day, you pick a celebration channel and a post time. From there, each teammate opts in by running `/cakeday me` in Slack and entering their own birthday and work start date. You never manage a spreadsheet or ask HR to export a roster — members add their own dates through a friendly modal, and admins see who's on the roster from the dashboard at [cakeday.io/app/roster](https://cakeday.io/app/roster).

## Pricing

Cake Day bills by celebrations per year — not by how many people are on your roster. Every plan lets you add unlimited teammates; you only pay more if more of them actually get celebrated.

When your workspace reaches 80% of its annual cap, Cake Day sends the admin a heads-up. If the cap is hit, the bot skips the celebration and notifies you — skipped celebrations are not retroactively posted on upgrade.
