We built Cake Day to make recognition automatic.

Slack is where modern teams live. Cake Day is the warmest channel in your Slack — every birthday, every work anniversary, every milestone, posted automatically and worded like a teammate.

What Cake Day does

Cake Day is a Slack app that posts AI-generated birthday and work-anniversary shoutouts in your team's celebration channel. Every message is fresh, personalized, and never templated. Setup takes about two minutes via Slack OAuth, and the bot handles every occasion automatically from there.

Who built it

Cake Day is built by MSW Digital LLC, an independent software studio. We started Cake Day after running a single-workspace version of the bot internally for years — the team that used it stopped missing birthdays, the team that didn't kept missing them, and the difference in morale was obvious enough that we decided to ship it for everyone.

What we believe

  • Recognition should be automatic. Manual birthday tracking always decays. Automating it removes the brittle "someone has to remember" step entirely.
  • Templates are worse than no message. AI-generated copy per teammate beats template-fill. People can spot a template instantly, and the moment they do, the recognition stops feeling personal.
  • Don't collect data you don't need. We store month and day only — never year of birth. The database has no column for it.
  • Free for small teams, forever. Recognition shouldn't be a budget conversation for a 10-person team. Our free tier is permanent, not a trial.
